"Cinema is simply a matter of what's in the frame, and what's out." - Martin Scorsese
Rules of Engagement:
1. Respect the opinions of the people on the blog and the filmmakers who's films we are talking about.
2. Be careful with your spoilers. Try to avoid spoiling the movie for others. If you post something that might involve heavy plot details be sure to mark it with spoiler tag in big bold letters like so: ***SPOILERS***
3. If you start a new topic, please attempt to write out something full. It doesn't have to be a full review of the film, but at least enough to get a discussion going.
4. Have fun! We want to hear your opinions! Post as much as you see fit!
I'm sure that by now, some of you have made it out to a pre-screening of Hot Tub Time Machine following their huge campaign of sneaks. I caught it about a month ago and can't wait to see it again. I'm not going to write a review, but you should GO SEE IT... unless of course you hate laughter. This is the comedy that I will hold as a standard for all comedies that follow this year, just like "I Love You, Man", not "The Hangover", was the funniest of last year. People say that it is "The Hangover" with a time machine, but I think it is definitely better. You should go see this now so we can discuss!
I didn't laugh uncontrollably like in some other films (Tropic Thunder, Hangover, Superbad) but I enjoyed the film immensely.
The only issue I had was:
***SPOILER***
why didn't all of them stay? (except for the kid) I felt like... what is the point of "improving" their lives and they don't remember 20 years of their life... it actually bothered me...
**END SPOILER***
but I laughed a lot and there was a good chemistry with the actors. I recommend this one for sure.
I felt like the ending was weak. Made me wonder if there was a better one and they abandoned it for some reason. If Lou stayed back with no negative consequences then the other two should have as well. They already made sure the kid was still going to exist. But hey, it's a check your brain at the door kind of movie
***END SPOILER***
Still haven't found a movie to make me laugh as hard as Superbad or Knocked Up. I think The hangover would be the next in line and then HTTM.
